Family and friends

My goodness it’s a late post tonight.  Work does that sometimes!

There was a big family event this past weekend and as always, oldest girl-child was the first to “sign up” to attend.  Not surprisingly,  boy-child begged off and decided that he didn’t need to come down and spend the weekend – too much to do.  The difference between a first born child and a last born child in action right there!

Much to my surprise, everyone else guilted boy-child into attending and he surprised me on the day of the family event by pulling into the driveway with girl-child and grand-baby in the car with him!  What  great surprise. Of course, it helped that boy-child had a wedding to go to as well this past weekend.

Boy-child’s bff’s sister got married this past weekend.  This, of course, got them talking about their own group of friends and one of the gang who is getting married next summer.  Seems crazy that these kids are planning weddings and other such things when only yesterday they were in grade 1!!  Regardless, the boys have decided that they are planning a bachelor’s weekend versus a bachelor’s party.  This bachelor’s weekend entails things like, drinking crown royal in best man’s basement because that is what they used to sneak out of the house to drink as teenagers (and father Ted apparently never noticed).  They’re hoping to get yelled at by Father Ted, just to make it legit.  Also included in the weekend festivities are things like some deep sea diving (very popular around here since there are quite a number of ship wrecks nearby), a big pot luck supper and of course, a night of karaoke.  The weekend wouldn’t be complete unless boy-child and bff could sing some Rolling Stones or some Jim Morrison while wasted on said Crown royal (ick).  It’s amazing to see the kids grow up and start families of their own.

I wish every parent could be so lucky!
