I can tell you, I wasn’t expecting that. She’s not exactly “demonstrative” and while I know she appreciates the fact that I took her in, she hasn’t really said much other than that. It took me off-guard when she said it.

Yes and no. There’s always something. The difference is before parents had the option of just raising obedient children who didn’t have to think for themselves and now – not so much. You have to do it right now and teach your kids how to trust themselves and how to learn good judgment.

I can’t imagine how much the trust issue must be complicated by all the time spent on social media. Makes me glad I don’t have a teenager!

That’s a really difficult lack to deal with; so much of coping with life is so much easier if you understand yourself and how/why you’re reacting the way you are. Anyone who doesn’t spends a lot of time flailing around in the dark.
